The Reality Labs (RL) Research Team brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of AR and VR, which together will become as universal and essential as smartphones and personal computers are today. The Surreal Vision group at RL Research is seeking exceptional Research Engineers to solve the next generation of research challenges on the path to building future machine perception enabled technologies. This role focuses on formulating a new generation of end-to-end real-time 3D scene understanding systems working across novel mobile sensor design, sensor fusion, state estimation, computer vision, large-scale reconstruction and localization, as well as large-scale online inference and optimization.
Experience with real world system building and data collection, including design, coding (C++) and evaluation (C++/Python)
Education in the following fields: Computer Vision, Robotics, State Estimation, 3D Reconstruction, Object Tracking, Physics based models, or a related field
Hands-on experience implementing 3D computer vision algorithms, Sensor Fusion, Reconstruction, Object Tracking, Mapping, and Image Processing
Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Plan and execute cutting-edge development to advance the state of the art in machine perception, mapping, reconstruction and localization, as well as 3D scene understanding across optical/inertial/wireless sensing systems
Collaborate with other researchers and engineers across machine perception teams at to develop experiments, prototypes, and concepts that advance the state-of-the-art in AR/VR systems
Work with the team to help design, setup, and run practical experiments and prototype systems related to large-scale long-duration sensing and machine reasoning
Experience with designing (products or open-source) software for inertial/optical/wireless sensing devices
Experience in real-time computer graphics or modern GPU programming (CUDA, OpenGL, OpenCL)
Experience working in a Unix environment
